The Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is providing valuable training opportunities in Fiji, aimed at equipping young people and those pursuing vocational education with essential skills for employment and better living standards.
On Thursday, 317 students, including 181 women and 137 men, participated in a ceremony in Nasinu to receive their certifications.
Jokapeci Mocelutu, a 26-year-old mother from Suvavou, has completed her training and expressed that the program is beneficial. She emphasized the importance of obtaining skills that will contribute to her future employment. Jokapeci is pursuing vocational qualifications in aged care and aims to work abroad or within Fiji, especially as job opportunities can be challenging to find.
Sainimere Lewetini, another trainee from Naweretu, Nakorotubu, also shared her enthusiasm for the skills and knowledge gained through the APTC program. At 26, she has received a Certificate II in Hospitality and looks forward to applying her training in Lautoka. Sainimere highlighted the importance of making the most of educational opportunities that do not require payment, which can significantly enhance her prospects for employment in the hospitality sector.
Both Jokapeci and Sainimere encourage their peers to take advantage of such training programs, as they offer pathways to improved livelihoods and help address the challenges faced by many in their communities.
