Fifteen final-year female university students will participate in KPMG Fiji’s ‘IT’s Her Future’ program starting tomorrow. Now in its second year, this two-day event is designed to inspire more women to enter the technology sector, which continues to see limited female representation.
According to KPMG Fiji Managing Partner Lisa Apted, attendees will gain valuable insights into technology careers, connect with mentors, and hear from women who are already thriving in roles at KPMG. The program will feature interactive sessions that highlight KPMG’s approach to technology, real-world challenges in the tech industry, and practical skills such as interview preparation.
KPMG’s commitment to enhancing gender diversity in technology is evident from previous initiatives, including pilot programs in Melbourne and Sydney where participants successfully landed interviews and positions. Apted emphasized that this program not only aims to equip young women with essential tools and confidence but also strives to create a pipeline of skilled talent for the future.
Apted noted that women represent only 25% of technical roles, and just 34% of the overall STEM workforce is female. This initiative seeks to combat this disparity by providing mentorship opportunities and encouraging young women to consider technology careers that may have seemed out of reach.
