The Careers Fair organized by the Outsourcing Industry in Suva is more than just an event; it serves as a platform for valuable discussions between parents and children about their aspirations and ambitions, according to Assistant Minister Iliesa Vanawalu. At the launch of the two-day fair, Vanawalu emphasized the importance of moving away from the traditional norm of students remaining idle during school breaks, pointing out that this fair provides an opportunity for young individuals to gain practical work experience.

Vanawalu highlighted the commitment to reach all corners of Fiji, ensuring no aspiring student is overlooked. He stated, “Education is not merely about imparting knowledge; it is about empowering individuals to realize their full potential, pursue their passions, and contribute meaningfully to society.” He further stressed that education should be aligned with industry needs and driven by innovation, so that graduates are prepared for the challenges of the modern workforce.

Senior Curriculum Advisor for the Ministry of Education, Mr. Lasarusa Rakula, noted a scarcity of job opportunities available in Fiji and urged students and school leavers to take advantage of the two-day Career Fair.

Students from the greater Suva area turned out in significant numbers to participate in this important event, reflecting a community eager to engage with career development opportunities.

This initiative is crucial, as it fosters career exploration and encourages youth to envision a future where they can thrive, ultimately contributing to the broader economic growth and development of Fiji. The Career Fair also represents a promising step towards bridging the gap between education and employment in the region.
