Empowering Futures: APTC’s Impact on Local Youth in Fiji

The Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is providing significant education opportunities in Fiji, aimed at empowering local youth and offering them skills for employment in various sectors. On Thursday, a total of 317 students, comprising 181 females and 137 males, participated in a recent intake in Nasinu.

One of the students, Jokapeci Mocelutu, emphasized the importance of this education in enabling them to secure jobs. At 26 years old and originally from Suvavou, Rewa, she is a single mother who is balancing her studies with parenting. The course she is undertaking lasts 12 weeks, focusing on aged care. Jokapeci noted that the training is free of charge and is tailored to equip students with the necessary skills for employment.

Jokapeci plans to seek employment both locally and abroad, recognizing the current challenges in the job market and the rising cost of living. She remains optimistic about further educational opportunities that the APTC may offer.

Another student, Sainimere Lewetini, expressed her excitement about her training experience. At 26, she hails from Naweretu, Nakorotubu in Ra and is pursuing a Certificate II in Hospitality. This course is also a 12-week program, with practical training opportunities provided at hotels across Fiji.

Both Sainimere and Jokapeci acknowledged that the education they are receiving is invaluable, enabling them to secure qualifications that will help improve their livelihoods and support their families. They encouraged fellow students to take full advantage of these training programs to enhance their job prospects.

The APTC is dedicated to providing quality education and training, significantly impacting the local community by equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in a competitive job market.
