The Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is providing valuable training opportunities in Fiji, especially aimed at young individuals seeking to improve their employment prospects and quality of life.
On a recent Thursday, a total of 317 students were awarded certificates, comprising 181 females and 137 males, in a ceremony held in Nasinu.
Jokapeci Mocelutu, a 26-year-old from Suvavou, expressed her appreciation for the program, emphasizing the accessibility of the education provided. She is currently pursuing a qualification in aged care services and plans to seek employment in this field. Despite her busy schedule, caring for her young child while studying, she remains optimistic about her future job opportunities, noting the high demand for workers in the aged care sector.
Sainimere Lewetini, also 26, from Naweretu in Ra, shared her excitement about earning a Certificate II in Hospitality. She highlighted the training’s positive impact on her skills, which she is eager to apply when she begins work at hotels in Lautoka. She noted the importance of such vocational training in providing pathways to fruitful employment, especially as many young people face job scarcity.
Both women encourage their peers to take advantage of the free training programs available, which can lead to certification and improved living standards. They stress that gaining qualifications can be a vital step towards overcoming the challenges of unemployment in their communities.
