Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro recently addressed newly inducted prefects during the 2025 Prefects Investiture Ceremony at Adi Cakobau School (ACS). In his speech, he congratulated the students on their leadership appointments, emphasizing that true leadership extends beyond titles, highlighting the need for responsibility and the importance of setting positive examples.

Radrodro underscored the significance of integrity, teamwork, and the duty to serve others, crucial values for effective leadership. He also reiterated the vital role parents play in their children’s educational journeys, urging them to actively participate in their children’s academic progress. According to Radrodro, students who enjoy emotional well-being and strong family support tend to achieve greater success in their studies and personal lives.

The Minister called for a collective effort among schools, teachers, parents, and the wider community to confront social challenges like mental health, substance abuse, and high school dropout rates. This holistic approach encourages a more nurturing school environment—an initiative that aligns with his previous addresses emphasizing student welfare and leadership responsibilities.

Radrodro’s message resonates with similar sentiments expressed at past induction ceremonies, where he has consistently highlighted the importance of creating safe and supportive learning environments. His efforts reflect a hopeful perspective on Fiji’s educational landscape, promoting the idea that with collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders, a positive change is achievable.

As the academic year unfolds, the focus on fostering both leadership among students and parental involvement presents an opportunity for progress and improvement in Fiji’s schools, paving the way for a brighter future where every student has the chance to thrive.
