Empowering Fiji’s Youth: A Bold New Proposal Unveiled

Felix Magnus, the executive chairman of Nasinu Town Council, is set to unveil a proposal for a compulsory national service ordinance aimed at empowering youth while tackling significant social issues.

The announcement will be made during Fiji Day celebrations at the Valelevu Multi-Purpose Court, with the goal of engaging young people in community service, environmental initiatives, and skills development to encourage responsibility and civic participation.

“This initiative isn’t just about honoring Fiji’s past; it’s about preparing for its future,” Mr. Magnus stated.

He emphasized that the national service program will focus on community engagement rather than militarization, drawing inspiration from successful international models.

Additionally, Mr. Magnus proposed establishing a national youth think tank intended to develop sustainable strategies to address the challenges faced by young people in Fiji.

“We need to look toward the future, ensuring our youth have the opportunities and support necessary for success. This think tank would promote a coordinated approach to address these issues.”
