Vodafone Fiji, in partnership with the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF), has made a significant contribution to the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) by donating 50 TCL Tab 10L Gen 2 tablets. This initiative was unveiled during a ceremony held in Suva, where Rajnesh Prasad, Vodafone Fiji’s Regional Chief Marketing Officer, stressed the critical role of technology in bolstering the operational efficiency of these businesses.
The goal of this initiative is to empower MSMEs by enhancing their digital presence on VitiKart, Fiji’s largest e-commerce platform that connects local businesses with consumers. The tablets are expected to streamline operations and facilitate better customer engagement, thus promoting growth in a rapidly changing marketplace. Prasad noted, “Mobility is key; this initiative allows these entrepreneurs to operate seamlessly anywhere.”
RBF Governor Ariff Ali reaffirmed the longstanding partnership with Vodafone, which began with a subsidy program in August 2021 aimed at making digital commerce more accessible. This program provides financial assistance for monthly VitiKart subscriptions for MSMEs. As the agreement enters its fourth year, it represents a shared commitment to the rapid adoption of online trading for businesses struggling with digital access.
Ali expressed his hopes that the recipients of the tablets would leverage this opportunity to enhance their business operations and more effectively tap into new markets through e-commerce. The tablets address the technological deficiencies identified in previous assessments of local enterprises, simplifying the management of online accounts and customer interaction.
The collaboration between Vodafone and RBF is not only fostering economic empowerment but also contributing to the creation of a resilient and inclusive digital ecosystem in Fiji. With ongoing investments in digital infrastructure, there is optimism that such initiatives will result in sustainable economic growth and broader opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
This focus on enhancing digital capabilities for local businesses presents a positive outlook for Fiji’s economic environment, underscoring the importance of technological advancement in today’s evolving economy.
