Empowering Fiji: The TVET Success Story

At least 69,146 students have graduated from Fiji National University’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs between 2019 and 2024.

This total includes 60,641 students who completed formal programs and competency-based short courses, along with 8,505 students who finished non-formal rural TVET programs.

Dr. Isimeli Tagicakiverata, FNU’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for TVET, highlighted that FNU is the leading TVET institution in Fiji and the South Pacific, producing highly qualified and skilled graduates to meet local, regional, and international demands.

Dr. Tagicakiverata emphasized that their TVET programs go beyond education to focus on empowerment. He noted that the programs boast exceptional graduate employability rates, with over 90% of graduates in key sectors such as Hospitality and Tourism, Information Technology, Construction, and Automotive Engineering finding employment.

The demand for FNU graduates remains high, both within Fiji and internationally. Dr. Tagicakiverata projected that FNU is on track to produce over 100,000 skilled workers by 2025 and 200,000 by 2030.
