Seventeen professionals have successfully completed the Leading for Impact program facilitated by Outsource Fiji, a six-week leadership training initiative focused on enhancing Fiji’s outsourcing sector. The graduation ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Outsource Fiji foyer in Suva, where 14 of the graduates were women, a noteworthy aspect of this training program.
The course, implemented by Bula Outsourcing Fiji Limited, emphasized essential leadership skills, including team management, communication, and coaching. Morika Hunter, president of Outsource Fiji, highlighted that the program is designed to accommodate the needs of the 24/7 industry and is already delivering tangible results. Graduates are returning to their work environments with improved capabilities to lead and motivate their teams.
Josefa Wivou, the chief executive of Outsource Fiji, noted that this program is the first among an anticipated 15 leadership initiatives planned as part of Outsource Fiji’s 2025–2029 strategy, aimed at workforce development, promoting industry growth, and fostering inclusivity.
Among the program graduates, Shynal Chand, a call center manager, expressed how the training transformed her leadership style, stating, “I now lead with empathy and better understand my team’s needs.” This shows a shift towards more compassionate management practices within the industry.
Supporting various groups in the workplace, Outsource Fiji is also working with partners to aid women, young parents, and individuals with disabilities. Ongoing surveys and assessments will help identify specific needs, including childcare and inclusive hiring practices.
As the outsourcing sector expands, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence and knowledge process outsourcing, leaders in the industry assert that training programs such as this are crucial for developing a skilled and resilient local workforce. This initiative reflects a commitment to nurturing leadership within Fiji’s growing outsourcing landscape, fostering greater diversity and empowerment for all participants.
The completion of this program signals a promising and progressive movement within Fiji’s corporate environment, potentially paving the way for enhanced opportunities in leadership roles while contributing positively to the economic fabric of the nation.
