Education Minister Aseri Radrodro addressed the vital role of parents in their children’s educational journey while speaking at the joint prefect’s induction ceremony for Vatukaloko Secondary School and Draunivi Public School in Rakiraki. He emphasized the importance of parental engagement, urging families to dedicate quality time to support their children’s academic success.

Mr. Radrodro encouraged parents to actively participate in their children’s education by monitoring their progress, assisting with homework, and being involved in school activities. He stated, “Your support at home makes a huge difference in their learning journey,” highlighting the significant impact parental involvement can have on students’ academic performance and overall development.

The Minister’s remarks reflect ongoing concerns regarding the declining academic performance of students in Fiji, particularly in forthcoming examinations. Similar sentiments were echoed in a previous message where Radrodro pointed out that increased parental supervision could help address inconsistent passing rates among students.

At the same ceremony, Mr. Radrodro advised the newly appointed prefects to approach their leadership roles with dedication, emphasizing the need for a united effort among parents, teachers, and the community to foster an environment conducive to learning.

This collective call for action points towards a hopeful future for Fiji’s educational landscape. By fostering collaboration among all stakeholders, including families, educators, and community leaders, there is significant potential to improve educational outcomes and create supportive pathways for students to thrive.

As the academic year begins, the emphasis on parental involvement presents an opportunity for positive changes in Fiji’s education system, paving the way for a brighter future where every student can succeed.
