The Cabinet has approved significant agreements between the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection and notable international partners, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) of New Zealand and the Peace Corps.
The agreements consist of two main components:
– A Grant Funding Agreement with MFAT, New Zealand, which provides up to NZD 100,000 for the development of a strategic plan covering the years 2025 to 2030. This funding is inclusive of all taxes.
– A Memorandum of Understanding with the Peace Corps to support projects associated with the Community Economic Empowerment Project.
These collaborations are set to begin as soon as they are executed, marking a strong commitment to enhancing the welfare of women and children through strategic planning and community-focused projects.
This partnership not only underlines the importance of external support in national development initiatives but also reflects a proactive approach by the Fijian government in addressing the needs of its most vulnerable populations. The focus on community economic empowerment signals a positive trajectory towards sustainable development and greater social equity.
Such international cooperation encourages hope for a brighter future as resources and expertise are pooled to create more significant opportunities for the empowerment and betterment of society.
