The Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs is actively supporting five communities in Levuka through essential projects funded by grants aimed at enhancing accessibility, improving water management, renovating facilities, and providing necessary equipment.
Minister Charan Jeath Singh emphasized that ministry staff will monitor each project closely as part of the Grant Programme, highlighting the importance of accountability. Organizations receiving funding must submit regular reports, and site visits will be conducted to ensure timely project completion.
In addition, Singh reaffirmed the government’s dedication to promoting unity and diversity by engaging with communities at the grassroots level. A fundamental mandate of the ministry is to ensure the well-being and support of all ethnic communities.
This funding initiative follows the ministry’s recent reallocation of grants for community-based organizations after a 14-year hiatus. An initial investment of $1.5 million is already making an impact across various divisions, showcasing a sustainable approach to empowering local communities.
The support provided not only inspires hope among participants but also strengthens their ability to contribute positively to society. This initiative aligns with previous efforts, demonstrating the government’s ongoing commitment to uplifting diverse ethnic groups in Fiji and ensuring every citizen has the opportunity to thrive within an inclusive environment.
Community leaders and members can anticipate the positive effects of these projects, which are set to enhance both infrastructural development and social cohesion within the community. The focus on grassroots development is a promising step toward fostering unity and a shared vision for the future.
