The 69th Miss Hibiscus Festival is set to take place from August 23 to 30 at the Suva Civic Foreshore. Tevita Boseiwaqa, chairperson of the festival committee and acting CEO of the Suva City Council, confirmed that preparations are already underway. He encouraged local businesses and organizations to submit their contestants for this year’s event, highlighting the festival as not just an opportunity for brand visibility, but also as a platform to empower young women passionate about addressing community issues such as drug awareness, homelessness, and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Boseiwaqa emphasized that the festival provides a meaningful space for young women to engage in public speaking and raise social awareness. “Each contestant represents more than a sash, she embodies the hopes, values, and dreams of her community,” he stated. The eight-day festival will include various public speaking events, community activities, and themed presentations.

In addition to the pageant, festival-goers can look forward to the Hibiscus Food Village, which will feature a variety of local and international cuisines, along with entertainment suitable for all ages. Sponsors are invited to support the initiative, with Boseiwaqa urging them to see participation as a way to champion a voice for change and nurture future generations of leaders.

Reflecting on similar past events, the Hibiscus Festival has remained a significant cultural highlight in Suva, showcasing not only the beauty of the participants but also a commitment to raising awareness on vital social issues. This year’s festival promises to continue this legacy and create lasting memories. The festival symbolizes hope and community involvement, and it is a chance for citizens to unite, celebrate, and inspire positive change.
