The Divisional Commissioner for Western Fiji, Apolosi Lewaqai, has announced that a crucial effort is underway to distribute food rations to 61 families currently residing in evacuation centers. The distribution is primarily taking place in Nadi, targeting locations such as Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.
Commissioner Lewaqai explained that the protocol allows for food rations to be distributed 48 hours post-evacuation, and teams are actively preparing packages to ensure that these families receive the necessary support by today.
Additionally, he noted that emergency operations centers will remain operational as weather forecasts indicate ongoing rainfall throughout the weekend. This proactive response underscores the dedication to assist those in need during challenging times.
This distribution not only highlights the community’s resilience but also the swift actions of local authorities to provide relief and support to families impacted by recent emergencies. Today’s efforts serve as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and compassion in the face of adversity.
