The Divisional Commissioner for the Western Division, Apolosi Lewaqai, has announced that efforts are underway to distribute food rations to 61 families currently residing in evacuation centres. The focus of today’s operations is primarily in Nadi, with distributions taking place at Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.

Commissioner Lewaqai clarified that food rations are provided to evacuees 48 hours after their evacuation. The teams are currently engaged in preparing these food packages, with the goal of completing the distribution within the day.

He also highlighted the importance of keeping emergency operations centres active, as the meteorological service has forecasted continued rainfall throughout the weekend.

This timely distribution of essential supplies underscores the community’s resilience and the commitment of local authorities to support families in need during challenging times. While the weather may pose ongoing challenges, the efforts by Commissioner Lewaqai and his team are a beacon of hope for those impacted.
