Suva bowler and Fiji’s national representative, Elizabeth Moceiwai, is preparing for her participation in the 2026 World Bowls Champion of Champions tournament, set to take place this October in Australia. Her distinguished performance during last year’s national singles competition earned her the chance to compete against some of the world’s elite bowlers at this prestigious event.
Reflecting on her achievements, Moceiwai stated, “I played in four national singles events, winning three. One of those victories qualified me to represent the country at the Champion of Champions competition in Australia.” The Ono-I-Lau native has experienced a remarkable trajectory in her bowling career since she began playing in 2009, particularly noting the past year as one of her most successful periods.
Moceiwai dominated not only at the club level but also on the national scene. She mentioned, “I played a lot of club games—weekly club matches, social games, and national competitions. Last year was, I can confidently say, a very good year for me.”
As she gears up for the first national trials next week, Moceiwai is committed to delivering another impressive performance to secure her place at her first Commonwealth Games. She views these trials as an important opportunity to prepare for the forthcoming competition in Australia, showcasing her determination and ambition.
Having missed the last two editions of the Commonwealth Games, Moceiwai is keen to make her debut in 2026, believing it will surpass her previous successes in 2015. Her journey reveals her resilience and dedication to the sport, and the upcoming events present a promising platform for her continued growth and achievement in bowling.
