Oceania Rugby has initiated its first-ever Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, in partnership with World Rugby and backed by the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade through the PacificAus Sports program. This innovative program is designed to improve officiating standards and refine skills across the Oceania region.
Richard Sapias, President of Oceania Rugby, stated that launching the camp in Fiji highlights their dedication to developing match officials and fostering excellence in the sport. The camp consists of rigorous training sessions, workshops, and discussions led by experienced referees and educators from World Rugby.
This program provides a valuable chance for match officials to sharpen their skills, stay informed on the latest updates in rugby officiating, and strengthen connections within the community. Frank Puletua, General Manager of Oceania Rugby, stressed the camp’s significance in enhancing the skills of local officials. He emphasized that they are making important strides to develop and improve their officials, aiming for higher standards and competencies.
