The Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa, has lodged a formal police complaint against Barbara Malimali, the Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). The complaint, submitted on November 28 to Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew, includes serious allegations of abuse of office, as well as intimidation and harassment of witnesses.

Acting Commissioner Chew has confirmed the receipt of the complaint and noted that an investigation is currently in progress. This report is part of a broader inquiry being conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) into Malimali, who is also facing scrutiny related to her appointment through a Commission of Inquiry.

In addition, the CID is looking into claims of possible misconduct during Malimali’s time serving as the Chair of the Electoral Commission. FijiLive has reached out to FICAC for further comments.

This situation underscores the commitment to accountability and transparency in public office. As investigations move forward, the hope is that any potential wrongdoing will be addressed thoroughly, reinforcing the integrity of Fiji’s electoral processes.
