Nearly 80 students from different age groups are participating in an eight-day character-building camp organized by the Fiji Sevashram Sangha in Suva. The camp is led by Swami Sanyuktanand, who oversees a team of 20 to 25 dedicated volunteers, ensuring the daily supervision and welfare of the participants.

Swami Sanyuktanand emphasized the importance of nurturing children, likening them to flowers that require protection and guidance from their parents to flourish. He highlighted the camp’s significance in today’s fast-paced society, where busy lifestyles often prevent parents from devoting enough time to support their children’s growth.

Running from January 4 to 11, the camp features a structured program aimed at cultivating physical fitness, spiritual awareness, and moral education. Activities include traditional aarti and bhajans, yoga sessions, and freehand exercises. Through this disciplined routine, children learn essential life skills such as responsibility, respect, and self-control.

Participants like 16-year-old Pranav Kumar and 17-year-old Ansh Maharaj shared that the camp aids them in reducing excessive social media usage and encourages engagement in more holistic activities. The Swami noted that educators frequently recommend the camp to parents, highlighting that children who attend often return to school exhibiting improved discipline and trustworthiness.

The camp is made possible through community donations and corporate sponsorships, including contributions from Sports World, which provides sporting equipment and prizes. This collective community effort not only supports the camp but also instills valuable life lessons in the youth, creating a more constructive future.

This initiative presents a hopeful outlook on character development in children, showcasing how targeted efforts can result in nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of positively contributing to society.
