Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has announced that it will conduct necessary maintenance work on the 132kV transmission line from the Wailoa Power Station to the Cunningham Road Switchyard on Sunday, August 3, 2025. This essential maintenance will involve the replacement of corroded hardware on transmission towers and will require a complete de-energization of the line between 4:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
To ensure a continuous power supply to the Central Division during this maintenance, EFL will utilize thermal generators at several power stations, including Deuba, Rokobili, Kinoya, New Kinoya, and Korovou. These generators will serve customers from the Matanipusi Hill to Suva and up to Navesau Village. EFL also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of commercial and industrial customers who will operate their own diesel generators during this period to support grid stability.
EFL assures its customers that efforts will be made to minimize any supply disruptions, although interruptions may still arise due to unforeseen faults either in thermal generators or within the network during the maintenance period. The timing for this work was carefully selected for a Sunday when electricity demand is generally lower to reduce the potential impact on services.
In case of inclement weather, the maintenance will be rescheduled, and the public will be promptly informed. EFL emphasizes safety, urging everyone to treat all power lines as if they are live and to maintain a safe distance from them, as unexpected energization may occur during maintenance.
This planned maintenance not only aims to enhance the reliability and safety of the power supply but also demonstrates EFL’s commitment to maintaining infrastructure for the benefit of the community. The proactive approach taken underscores a dedication to providing reliable electricity while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of customers.
