Energy Fiji Ltd (EFL) has announced a significant repair and maintenance operation at the Vuda 132kV Substation and along the Nadarivatu-Vuda 132kV Circuit in the Western Division today. To facilitate these essential works, the company will temporarily deenergize the 132,000-volt transmission line connecting the Nadarivatu Switching Station to the Vuda Zone substation.
During the maintenance period, EFL has arranged for electricity to be supplied to customers through its thermal power stations located in Vuda, Qeleloa, Nadi, Sigatoka, Pineapple Corner, Rarawai, and Rakiraki. This provision is designed to meet the electricity demand for customers throughout the Western Division, specifically from Matanipusi Hill in Serua to Navesau in Rakiraki.
EFL reassured customers that the planned maintenance should not result in power outages unless there is a malfunction in the thermal generation plants or an unforeseen issue within the transmission and distribution network. In light of this, the company expressed gratitude to customers who opt to use their own generators during this maintenance phase to alleviate the demand on the EFL grid.
Additionally, EFL noted that if adverse weather conditions arise, the planned maintenance could be deferred, with timely notifications provided to customers. The public has also been reminded to consider all power lines as live for safety reasons.
This proactive approach by EFL underscores their commitment to ensuring a reliable electricity supply while maintaining the infrastructure vital for continued service delivery. As they work toward improving the grid, the cooperation of customers during this maintenance period showcases community resilience and support for essential services.
Overall, this planned maintenance can be seen as an important step towards enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the electricity supply in the region.
