Forestry Minister Alitia Bainivalu has hailed the newly opened Nadarivatu Forest Park as a significant educational platform. During the inauguration ceremony, she emphasized that the park is not just an aesthetic addition but a key driver for future economic growth. Bainivalu stressed that the park represents more than just a ceremonial opening; it plays an essential role in promoting sustainable development.
The minister pointed out that the park would serve as an “interactive classroom” for young people, offering them a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of the natural world. This initiative is expected to foster environmental awareness and appreciation among the youth, equipping them with knowledge vital for the stewardship of Fiji’s natural resources.
Traditional leader Tui Nubu Ratu Manoa Naleba, aged 78, noted that the establishment of the park signifies a revitalization of development in the historic province of Colo North. The park will operate under a public-private partnership, indicating a collaborative approach to management that balances community needs with sustainable practices.
The launch of the Nadarivatu Forest Park presents a hopeful vision for the area, as it opens doors to educational and economic opportunities while promoting environmental sustainability. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance community engagement and conservation efforts, paving the way for future development in the region.
