The Ministry of Education is addressing concerns regarding students advancing to the next grade without fully mastering essential learning skills. In response, a new policy has been introduced to reinforce classroom standards and improve the assessment process for student readiness.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro emphasized that teachers now possess enhanced authority to evaluate whether students are truly prepared for promotion. He noted, “So now the option is given to the students to explore options and avenues by the teachers to be able to give them a satisfactory indication that the students have learnt what is expected of them in a certain level before they progress to the next level.”

To support this initiative, the Minister indicated that further training opportunities for teachers will be introduced, aimed at enhancing their assessment techniques. He stated, “We are hoping to engage more teacher training, engage more teacher training opportunities, and provide them with opportunities as well in terms of continuous professional development.”

The Ministry believes that a focus on stronger assessments and enhanced teacher development will significantly raise learning standards, ensuring that students advance with a solid educational foundation. This commitment to continuous improvement aims to better prepare students for their future academic endeavors and contribute positively to their overall educational journey.
