The Ministry of Education has completed the payment to Vodafone Fiji Limited for the difference in bus fares. With the new bus rates implemented on September 1, 2024, the Ministry has guaranteed parents, guardians, and students that the payment was made only after finalizing the reconciliation of the bus card taps, both for the blue and yellow cards.
Verification records were submitted to the Ministry in the first week of October, and after further checks in line with the Ministry’s guidelines, the payment for the fare differences was finalized on October 15.
As of September 10, 2024, a total of 103,321 students have benefited from the Transport Assistance Program. Among them, 62,988 students receive e-transport on blue subsidized cards, while 40,333 utilize RSL transport assistance.
According to an agreement between the Education Ministry and all relevant parties, payments for fare differences will be made at the end of each month to Vodafone Fiji.
