Eddie Murphy has tied the knot with Australian model Paige Butcher in an intimate ceremony. The couple, who got engaged in September 2018 after dating since 2012, exchanged vows on Tuesday, July 9, in Anguilla, witnessed by close family and friends.
They share an 8-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son, having welcomed their first child together in 2016 and their second in 2018. Murphy is a father of 10 children in total.
During his acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, Murphy expressed gratitude to Butcher and his children for their love, support, and inspiration.
This marks Murphy’s second marriage and Butcher’s first. The wedding comes as Murphy reprises his iconic role as Axel Foley in the latest Beverly Hills Cop movie, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” which premiered on Netflix on July 3. In the fourth installment, Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills to uncover a conspiracy after his daughter’s life is threatened, teaming up with new partner Detective Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old friends John Taggart (John Ashton) and Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold).
Appearing on the Today show, Murphy joked about reprising his role, noting the significant time gap since he first played Axel Foley. He reflected on the character’s everyman appeal, emphasizing that Axel’s relatability and humor have made him a beloved figure.
