Eco Concerns at Festival of the Friendly North

Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima has expressed the importance of ensuring that recent progress in the North does not come at the expense of the environment. He made these remarks during the opening of the Festival of the Friendly North at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday.

Rainima highlighted that the evolving business landscape represents a significant milestone for the community. He emphasized the necessity of maintaining responsible practices even as they celebrate these advancements.

During the opening ceremony, contestants showcased outfits crafted from recycled materials, including sacks, plastics, and old greenhouses, reflecting this year’s theme of “Sustainable Agriculture – Green Economy.”

A total of nine queens are competing for the title of Miss Friendly North, alongside three men who are in the running for the title of king.
