The Eastern division bowlers are setting their sights on the prestigious Pineapple Cup, aiming to wrest it away from their Western division counterparts, who recently dominated the national pairs tournament. Dan Lum On, a member of the Suva Bowling Club, has voiced the eastern team’s determination to keep the trophy in their region, particularly after celebrating their club’s centennial anniversary this year.

In preparation for what is considered Fiji’s oldest and most esteemed bowling competition, the Suva Bowling Club has been actively honing their skills with social bowling events. Historically, the Pineapple Cup has attracted top bowlers from across the country, and this year promises to be no different, with participation from all 10 clubs nationwide.

Defending champions Sai Walker and Semesa Naiseruvati are expected to face stiff competition in both the women’s and men’s categories. With a legacy spanning over six decades, this tournament remains a pinnacle of excellence in Fijian bowling, drawing elite talent and fostering an environment of spirited competition.

As the East and West prepare for their showdown, the event not only highlights the competitive nature of the sport but also enhances the sense of community and sportsmanship among its participants. This year’s competition is especially significant for the eastern team, as they aim to end the year on a high note by reclaiming one of the sport’s most honored trophies.
