The National Cricket Women’s League is set to resume its final round of pool matches tomorrow, with players from Suva and Nadi gearing up for what promises to be an exciting conclusion to the competition. Following this round, the finals are scheduled for next Saturday.
In Suva, the action will unfold at Albert Park, while Denarau Oval will host the matches for the Nadi competition. Defending champions Nausori Majidez currently top pool 1, having won both of their pool games held in December 2025. They are set to face Moce in their final pool game tomorrow. Meanwhile, Black Ducks, who were last season’s runners-up, are leading pool 2 and will go head-to-head with the Ono-i-Lau Sixers this week to determine the top position at the end of the pool rounds.
In the Nadi Women’s League, fans will see an exciting clash between the Saunivalu Hurricanes and Nadi Development, as they vie for supremacy heading into the finals next week.
The highlight of the league will feature the top two teams from both the Suva and Nadi Leagues competing in an East vs. West local derby at Denarau Oval on January 24.
In addition to league matches, Cricket Fiji is also pursuing the development of talent at the youth level. Cricket Fiji CEO, Sitiveni Rokoro, announced that a national U19 women’s trial will take place at Albert Park next Wednesday at 11 am. This trial aims to select a national squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier in Papua New Guinea, scheduled for April 6-15, 2026. Players aged between 15 and 18 are invited to participate.
Rokoro elaborated on the organization’s ambitions for the year, which include securing land for a dedicated cricket facility and office space, enhancing the team’s global ranking, and strengthening the structure of domestic competition. With these initiatives underway, the future appears promising for Cricket Fiji, fueling hope and excitement among players and fans alike.
