Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School (MGM) is set to compete against Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) in the final of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Vodafone Super Deans under-14 grade. RKS secured their spot in the final by defeating the 2023 champions, Marist Brothers High School, with a score of 13-0. MGM advanced after a commanding victory over Lelean Memorial School, winning 31-10 in the second semi-final.
This upcoming final will mark a new champion in the U14 grade, as both schools aim for victory next weekend. MGM’s team manager, Miriama Lutubulo, expressed that this achievement is particularly meaningful, as they are the sole remaining team from their school in the competition.
“The loss of the U18 team motivated them because now we are the only MGM team that’s playing in the Deans and Raluve, which has driven them to push further,” Lutubulo stated. As they prepare for the finals, the team is ready to face the formidable RKS, who are recognized as the top team from the Eastern Zone.
“We understand that RKS will come prepared, and we will also make sure to prepare thoroughly,” added the manager. The U14 MGM team enjoyed strong support during the semi-finals, with families, friends, and supporters donning bright orange colors to cheer them on.
