A 37-year-old man from Lautoka is in police custody following a traffic accident that occurred while he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place on Sukanaivalu Road, where the man lost control of his vehicle and struck a 40-year-old account clerk standing on the roadside. The clerk is currently receiving treatment at Lautoka Aspen Hospital, while the driver remains in police custody.

In a different incident on the same day, another 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu, also under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his vehicle while driving along Knolly Street. He veered off the road and crashed into a concrete retaining wall, and is presently receiving care at CWM Hospital.

Investigations into both traffic accidents are ongoing.

This serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence. As authorities look further into these incidents, it highlights the importance of road safety and the necessity for drivers to remain vigilant and responsible. Although these events are unfortunate, they can spark conversations about preventive measures to discourage such reckless behavior on the roads.

In summary, two separate traffic accidents involving intoxicated drivers occurred, resulting in injuries and ongoing police investigations.
