A 37-year-old man from Lautoka is currently in police custody following a serious accident that occurred while he was intoxicated. The incident took place on Sukanaivalu Road when the man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a 40-year-old account clerk who was standing on the side of the road. The injured clerk has been admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident that occurred yesterday morning, another 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu also drove under the influence of alcohol. While navigating Knolly Street, he lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete retaining wall. He is now being treated at CWM Hospital.
Police are actively conducting traffic investigations into both accidents to determine the circumstances surrounding these unfortunate events.
