A 37-year-old man from Lautoka is currently in police custody after being involved in an accident while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred on Sukanaivalu Road, where he lost control of his vehicle and struck a 40-year-old account clerk standing at the roadside. The clerk has been admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital for treatment, while the driver remains in police custody as investigations continue.

In a separate incident earlier that same day, another 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu, lost control of his vehicle on Knolly Street, crashing into a concrete retaining wall. He was also reported to be under the influence of alcohol and is now receiving care at CWM Hospital.

Authorities are actively investigating both of these accidents, emphasizing the need for road safety and the dangers of driving under the influence.

It is crucial for the community to recognize the severe implications of impaired driving. These incidents underscore the importance of responsible behavior on the roads to ensure the safety of all individuals. Promoting awareness and preventive measures could lead to a reduction in such accidents, fostering a safer driving environment for everyone.
