Drunk Driving Dangers: Two Accidents Spark Police Investigations

A 37-year-old man from Lautoka is in police custody following a car accident caused by his intoxication. The incident occurred on Sukanaivalu Road yesterday when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a 40-year-old accounts clerk who was standing by the roadside. The victim is currently receiving treatment at Lautoka Aspen Hospital, while the driver remains in police custody.

In a separate incident on the same day, another 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu, lost control of his vehicle on Knolly Street, veering off the road and crashing into a concrete retaining wall. This individual was also found to be under the influence of alcohol and is now hospitalized at CWM Hospital.

Investigations into both traffic accidents are ongoing.
