A 37-year-old man from Lautoka is currently in police custody after causing an accident while intoxicated. He was driving on Sukanaivalu Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a 40-year-old accountant who was standing by the roadside. The injured man has been admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, while the driver remains in police detention.

In a separate but related incident, another 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu, lost control of his vehicle while driving along Knolly Street. He crashed into a concrete retaining wall and is now receiving treatment at CWM Hospital. This man was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities are currently conducting traffic investigations into both incidents.

This highlights the persistent issue of driving under the influence, reminding us of the importance of road safety and responsible behavior when it comes to alcohol consumption. It serves as a crucial call to action for communities to prioritize awareness and education around these matters to prevent future accidents.

In summary, two separate incidents involving intoxicated drivers have resulted in injuries, leading to investigations by the police. As the community reflects on these events, there is hope that awareness will drive positive change and enhance road safety.
