Three men suspected of being involved in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs were arrested during separate operations yesterday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that the first operation was carried out by the Nausori Crime team in Raralevu, where authorities confiscated over 50 zip lock bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, along with 15 sachets of what is believed to be marijuana. Two men, aged 53 and 29, were taken into custody in connection with this operation.
In another incident, ACP Driu noted that a 46-year-old man was apprehended in Solovi, Nadi, after more than 170 sachets of dried leaves, suspected to be marijuana, were found in his possession. He remains in custody as investigations are ongoing.
ACP Driu emphasized that police will intensify their efforts to target those involved in the drug trade, particularly as significant social and sporting events are often exploited by drug dealers.
