Among those apprehended is a 35-year-old farmer from Kilikoso, who was caught with nine sachets of what is believed to be marijuana. Another individual, a 42-year-old unemployed man from Qelewaqa, was arrested while at the Labasa Market Taxi Stand with similar illegal substances. A third individual, a 40-year-old man also from Qelewaqa, faces charges after being found with eleven sachets of suspected marijuana at the Labasa Bus Stand. Additionally, a chef from Valebasogo was arrested after possessing four sachets of the same substance.

In a notable operation in Tukavesi, Cakaudrove, police discovered 334 green plants believed to be marijuana hidden in containers. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu noted that these drug arrests are occurring on a daily basis and expressed gratitude towards local village leaders for their assistance in reporting suspicious activities.

The proactive measures by law enforcement reflect a strong commitment to curbing drug-related crime in the community. This approach not only helps maintain safety but also fosters a healthier environment for residents and businesses alike. Continued vigilance and cooperation between police and community members will be essential in the ongoing fight against drug abuse.

In summary, the recent actions of the Labasa police highlight a dedicated effort to fight drug-related crimes and protect the community’s wellbeing. It is hoped that these initiatives will not only deter potential offenders but also lead to a safer, drug-free environment in the region.
