Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that the police are actively conducting operations to seek out illicit drugs during the festive season. “As I have mentioned previously, arrests happen daily, and we persist in charging individuals and bringing them to court for drug possession,” stated ACP Driu. He also highlighted that the Fiji Police Force is committed to disrupting the drug trade, especially as supplies are anticipated to arrive for the holiday period.
Despite the challenges, ACP Driu noted that Christmas Eve operations were executed smoothly, assuring the public that the police will continue to advocate for everyone’s safety and security.
This proactive approach by the Fiji Police Force demonstrates their dedication to maintaining a safe environment during the festive season and addressing the ongoing issue of drug-related activities. By remaining vigilant and conducting regular operations, law enforcement is sending a clear message that they are determined to combat the drug trade in the region. This is a hopeful sign for the community, underscoring the importance of safety and vigilance in fostering a secure atmosphere for celebrations.
