Two individuals have been taken into police custody after arriving this morning on a shipping vessel and being discovered in possession of illegal drugs. The Fiji Police Force, alongside the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), carried out a search operation at Port Mua-i-Walu.

During the operation, authorities targeted a 39-year-old farmer who was found with branches containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana. A subsequent search of a 26-year-old unemployed man also revealed dried leaves in his possession.

This prompt action by law enforcement highlights their commitment to combating drug trafficking and maintaining public safety. The involvement of specialized units like the FDDU demonstrates the proactive measures being taken to address illicit drug issues in the community. As the investigation unfolds, it underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with police to ensure a safer environment for all.
