Three individuals were apprehended in separate operations yesterday for their roles in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, the first operation was carried out by the Nausori Crime team in Raralevu, resulting in the seizure of over 50 zip lock bags containing white crystals, suspected to be methamphetamine, along with 15 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. Two men, aged 53 and 29, were taken into custody, and they are currently being held while investigations proceed.
In a different incident within the Western Division, a 46-year-old man was arrested in Solovi, Nadi, after law enforcement discovered more than 170 sachets of dried leaves thought to be marijuana in his possession. This suspect also remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
ACP Driu emphasized that police will intensify their efforts to target those involved in the distribution and sale of illicit drugs, particularly during significant social and sporting events, which have historically been exploited by drug pushers and dealers.
