Three individuals have been taken into police custody following a drug raid in Tamole Settlement, New Town. The operation, conducted by the Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) on Sunday afternoon, uncovered a significant quantity of illicit drugs.

During the raid, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old car wash attendant complied with the authorities and handed over 117 sachets of dried leaves, which are believed to be marijuana, concealed within the house. This voluntary action highlights a potential willingness among individuals to cooperate with law enforcement.

Additionally, a 53-year-old casual worker from Newtown Settlement was apprehended the following day after police executed a search warrant at his residence. The suspect also surrendered some dried leaves, suspected to be marijuana.

This incident reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement in combating drug-related activities in the community. The police’s proactive approach, including the involvement of specialized units like the FDDU, is crucial in addressing such challenges.

It’s encouraging to see individuals cooperating with authorities, which may indicate a growing awareness of the consequences of drug possession and a desire for community safety. Continued vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement and the community will be key in making strides toward a healthier society.
