Three individuals were taken into custody yesterday on charges of drug possession following a police operation. The incident occurred when the Police K-9 Unit halted a vehicle along Waiyavi in Lautoka. During the stop, officers searched two men: a 26-year-old mechanic from Sabeto Central and a 32-year-old resident of Duna Place in Nadi Town. The K-9 Unit uncovered two clear plastic bags containing a white substance, suspected to be methamphetamine.

In a separate case, a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driver from Cunningham was arrested after authorities discovered seedlings believed to be marijuana in his possession. A subsequent search of his residence by the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) and the Police K-9 Unit revealed additional seedlings that are believed to be marijuana.

All three suspects remain in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.

This event highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement in Fiji to combat drug-related crimes, ensuring community safety and a commitment to thorough investigation practices. With these proactive measures, there is hope that such operations will deter drug activities and promote a safer environment for all residents.
