Three individuals were apprehended yesterday on drug-related charges following distinct police operations in Lautoka and Nadi.
The arrests began when members of the Police K-9 Unit stopped a 26-year-old mechanic from Sabeto Central and a 32-year-old man from Duna Place in Nadi, near Waiyavi, Lautoka. During the police search, they discovered two clear plastic bags containing a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
In a separate incident, police arrested a Public Service Vehicle driver from Cunningham who was found to have marijuana seedlings in his possession. Following this arrest, a raid was conducted at his residence by both the Fiji Dog Detector Unit and the Police K-9 Unit, revealing additional seedlings believed to be marijuana.
The three men are currently being held in police custody as investigations into their cases continue.
This situation underscores the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes and protect the community. While these events are concerning, they also highlight the vital role police play in maintaining safety and order. Hopefully, continued vigilance and community cooperation can lead to a decrease in such illegal activities.
