Three individuals were apprehended yesterday on drug-related charges after a police operation in Lautoka. The Police K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Waiyavi, where they searched two men—a 26-year-old mechanic from Sabeto Central and a 32-year-old resident of Duna Place in Nadi Town. During the search, the K-9 Unit discovered two clear plastic bags containing a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
Additionally, a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driver from Cunningham was taken into custody after the authorities found him in possession of seedlings believed to be marijuana. A subsequent raid at his home by the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) and the Police K-9 Unit uncovered further marijuana seedlings.
All three suspects remain in police custody as investigations are ongoing, highlighting law enforcement’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes in the community.
This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by authorities to address drug issues and maintain public safety. Strengthening community awareness and support for law enforcement initiatives can contribute to reducing drug-related offenses in the future.
