Seven individuals were taken into custody during a drug raid in Waqadra, Nadi, on Thursday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that authorities recovered several zip lock bags containing crystals thought to be methamphetamine, as well as a bag with a white powder believed to be cocaine.
Additionally, more than $300 suspected to be proceeds from illegal activities was confiscated during the operation. ACP Driu noted that there have been other arrests over the past week for unlawful possession of drugs in various locations, including Labasa market, Tomuka in Lautoka, Dreketi Settlement in Lautoka, Varadoli in Ba, Nasivi Street in Tavua, Nanuku Settlement, and Samabula.
This proactive approach by law enforcement highlights their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and promoting community safety. Efforts like these are essential in the ongoing battle against substance abuse and its associated issues, fostering a safer environment for residents.
