Three men are currently in police custody following a significant drug bust in New Town. On Sunday afternoon, authorities, including the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), executed a raid at a residence in the Tamole Settlement.
During the operation, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old car wash attendant willingly handed over 117 sachets of dried leaves, suspected to be marijuana, which were hidden within the home.
In a related incident, on Monday, a 53-year-old casual worker from Newtown Settlement was also apprehended for possessing illicit drugs. Police and the FDDU conducted a search of the suspect’s residence based on a warrant, where additional dried leaves believed to be marijuana were voluntarily surrendered.
This enforcement action highlights the ongoing effort by local authorities to combat drug-related offenses in the community, emphasizing the importance of public safety. By addressing these illegal activities, the police are taking steps toward a healthier environment for residents.
It is hopeful that these operations will deter future drug-related activities and promote awareness about the dangers of drug use in the community.
