Two individuals were apprehended early this morning for possession of illegal narcotics during a coordinated operation by the Fiji Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU). The raid took place in Wailea, Vatuwaqa at approximately 2 AM, where authorities discovered 10 dried loose branches believed to be marijuana in the suspects’ possession.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu reported that the operation was conducted smoothly, thanks in part to the assistance of the FDDU’s canine units, which played a crucial role in detecting the drugs.

The Fiji Police have reaffirmed their commitment to tackling drug-related offenses, emphasizing the need for ongoing operations at checkpoints and vigilance in monitoring individuals in areas known for illicit activities during late-night hours.

Both suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, showcasing the vigilance and proactive approach of law enforcement in addressing drug-related issues in the community.

This operation not only highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in maintaining public safety but also reassures the community that authorities are actively working to mitigate drug-related challenges. As the investigation unfolds, there is hope that such proactive measures will lead to safer neighborhoods and a reduction in drug-related incidents.
