Six individuals from the cities of Nadi and Lautoka are set to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today after being apprehended for their involvement with methamphetamine. The police reported that the group, aged between 34 and 45, was arrested during a raid in Waqadra on Sunday, executed by the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized multiple clear plastic bags containing crystal-like substances, which later tested positive for methamphetamine. Each of the six suspects faces charges related to unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
This incident emphasizes the ongoing efforts by law enforcement in Fiji to combat the rising drug issues within the community. Just last week, another significant operation took place in Vatuwaqa, where four individuals were charged for similar drug-related offenses, including the possession of both methamphetamine and marijuana. These actions represent a broader trend of heightened vigilance and proactive measures by authorities to tackle the illicit drug trade throughout the country.
