Two individuals who arrived via a shipping vessel this morning are now in police custody following the discovery of illicit drugs. The Fiji Police Force, along with the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), carried out a thorough search at Port Mua-i-Walu.
During the operation, a 39-year-old farmer was found in possession of branches of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. In another search, a 26-year-old unemployed man was also discovered with similar dried leaves. Both men are currently detained as authorities continue their investigations into the incident.
This enforcement action highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Fiji to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety. The use of specialized detection units like the Fiji Dog Detector Unit serves as an effective tool in curbing illegal drug activities, fostering a safer environment for the community.
As investigations proceed, it is hoped that the measures taken will serve as a deterrent to illicit drug trade and promote a healthier society.
