Two individuals were taken into police custody this morning after arriving via a shipping vessel and being found in possession of illicit drugs.

The Fiji Police Force, accompanied by the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), executed a search operation at Port Mua-i-Walu. During the search, a 39-year-old farmer was discovered to have branches of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. Additionally, a 26-year-old unemployed man was found with a separate collection of dried leaves in his possession.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Fiji to combat drug-related offenses and ensure public safety. The proactive measures taken by the Fiji Police Force and the FDDU serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in preventing drug trafficking and maintaining community health.

Although this situation is concerning, it may lead to greater awareness and educational initiatives surrounding drug use and its consequences within the community.
